Angkor Wat !

Before coming to Thailand we spent a brief but memorable few days in Siem Reap, Cambodia. There we were able to tour the breathtaking Angkor Wat temple complex. It is one of the most amazing places I've ever visited. Here are a few pictures from our visit.

The swamp in the middle of the temple was eerily still, as though it hadn't moved in hundreds of years.

In this particular temple trees and vines have been growing over the temple for thousands of years. The result is quite magical... like a scene from a movie. In fact it WAS used in the movie Tomb Raider!

Mom - It might be tricky to find the locations in Myanmar in the Atlas. Along with the country name, several city names have been changed in recent years, supposedly in an attempt to break away from British colonialism.

Kate - Hi! Thanks for commenting and reading along. I feel so famous now, having readers whom I've never met.
If you're interested in traveling in this area, or have any other questions about what we've seen here I'd be happy to answer them as well as I can.
Hope to hear from you again!

Hi Kaori,
I'm glad you like the pictures. I can't take credit for many of them though, Tara does most of our photography. I have been taking some video, but I won't be able to post it to the blog until I am back in Canada.

I'm glad you're enjoying Steve's lessons, and I look forward to teaching you again sometime too.
Take care. :)
